Cara Sheppard has been named president of Streamland Media’s picture division, Picture Shop. Sheppard will lead a worldwide team known for delivering industry-defining color, editorial, dailies, and mastering and restoration services that help bring filmmakers’ creative visions to the screen.
Sheppard’s more than 18 years of industry experience run the gamut from studio operations to facility management in production and postproduction. Most recently, she served as managing director for London’s Twickenham Film Studios. Prior to that, she successfully led Warner Bros. De Lane Lea as managing director for nearly five years. Sheppard also spent six years in senior management at the Comcast-owned British broadcaster Sky. She got her start in the industry as a freelancer on-set in production and then as a postproduction supervisor. Sheppard is a full voting member of BAFTA, a consistent contributor to industry journals and panels, and serves on the facilities board of the U.K. Screen Alliance.

Picture Shop’s global locations include Los Angeles and New York in the U.S.; Toronto and Vancouver in Canada; and London, Manchester, Bristol and Wales in the U.K. Picture Shop also has dailies outposts in U.S. production hubs, including Austin, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Albuquerque.
In addition to Picture Shop, Streamland Media includes visual effects division, Ghost VFX; sound division, Formosa Group; and marketing division, Picture Head. All four divisions offer customized postproduction solutions to content creators worldwide.
SMPTE elects board officers, regional governors
SMPTEยฎ,the home of media professionals, technologists, and engineers, has revealed the board officers and regional governors who will serve terms beginning in January 2025.
Three new officers--Richard Welsh as SMPTE president, Eric Gsell as SMPTE executive VP, and Polly Hickling as SMPTE Education VP--have been elected for a two-year term from Jan. 1, 2025, to Dec. 31, 2026. One SMPTE officer, Lisa Hobbs, will be continuing her service as SMPTE secretary and treasurer for another two-year term. Additionally, Raymond Yeung will be stepping into the role of standards VP on Jan. 1, 2025.

In addition to the officers, 10 regional governors were elected by the Society to serve two-year 2025-2026 terms.
