The 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles will be broadcast worldwide by ESPN's networks.
The organizing committee announced the deal Wednesday. ESPN plans to air some coverage on its TV channels and to stream other parts online, but specific details have not yet been determined. Coverage of the 2011 World Games in Athens, Greece, was streamed on ESPN3.com.
ESPN will produce the opening ceremony live along with a nightly highlights program. The event begins July 25, 2015.

DirecTV is calling off its planned acquisition of rival Dish after the offer was rejected by bond holders at that company.
