The Art Directors Guild (ADG, IATSE Local 800) has announced that director and producer Mimi Leder will receive the 2024 Cinematic Imagery Award at the 28th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards.
Leder currently serves as the executive producer and director of the hit AppleTV+ series, The Morning Show, starring Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Billy Crudup. Most notably, Leder earned her 10th Emmy® Award nomination for directing the season one finale. The Morning Show is the most watched series globally on AppleTV+ and has earned multiple SAG, Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice and Emmy awards nominations, and was selected as one of AFI’s 10 best television programs of 2023. Leder is also the first female graduate of AFI and continues to be a groundbreaking trailblazer for women in the industry.
“I’m honored, humbled and excited to be recognized by the Art Director’s Guild,” said Leder. “The creative relationship with our production designers is not only to create the setting but to convey emotion, character and storytelling, which is the magic that builds these immersive worlds we can dream in, and bring to life.”
The ADG’s Cinematic Imagery Award is given to those whose body of work in the film and television industry has richly enhanced the visual aspects of the viewer’s experience. Previous recipients include Baz Luhrmann, Jane Campion, Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese and George Lucas.
“Mimi Leder is a visionary director and producer, whose collaboration with her art departments demonstrates the heights that we can achieve in filmmaking,” shared award show producers Michael Allen Glover, ADG and Megan Elizabeth Bell, ADG in a joint statement. “We’re honored to bestow her with this year’s Cinematic Imagery Award.”

She has directed and produced films including On the Basis of Sex, Deep Impact, The Peacemaker and television shows such as The Leftovers, Luck, Shameless and The West Wing.
The 28th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards will take place on Feb. 10 at the Ray Dolby Ballroom, Ovation Hollywood.
“Scandal” cast will reunite for online script reading for hurricane relief in western North Carolina
The cast of ABC's hit political drama "Scandal" may need to brush up on their snappy, speedy delivery known as "Scandal-pace," because they're reuniting for a good cause. Its stars including Kerry Washington, Tony Goldwyn and Bellamy Young will take part in a live virtual script reading on Nov. 17 to raise money for hurricane relief in western North Carolina.
Beginning Friday, fans can go online and donate to reserve a spot for the online reading. Proceeds will benefit United Way of North Carolina. Everyone who donates will be able to take part in a virtual pre-event with the cast and Shonda Rhimes will give an introduction.
Additional guest stars will also be announced. The online fundraising platform Prizeo is also holding a contest where one person who donates online via their site will be selected to read a role from the script with the actors. The winner should not worry about the "Scandal"-pace, assured Young over Zoom.
"Whomever the lucky reader is can read at whatever pace they want," she said.
Young, who played Mellie Young, the first lady and later Republican presidential nominee on "Scandal," was born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina. She came up with the idea for the effort with a friend and took it to her fellow "Scandal" actors, who all jumped on board. Young said this is the first script reading the cast has all done together since the show ended after seven seasons in 2018.
Which episode they will be reading has not been announced yet.
Young said it's "been devastating" to see so many parts of her hometown badly damaged by Hurricane Helene, which ravaged western North Carolina one month ago.
To research the best use for donations, Young spoke with numerous political leaders, including North... Read More
