Miami Film 2016 has been launched in partnership with The Related Group. The program from Miami Dade College’s Miami International Film Festival will award cash prizes totaling in the amount of $32,500 to three Argentine film projects in development, based on project quality and production feasibility.
Minimum requirements for this merit-based grant fund include attached Argentine directors with at least one internationally-distributed previous feature film credit. The directors of the winning projects will be invited to attend the 33rd edition of Miami International Film Festival in March 2016 to not only receive the award, but also participate in the Festival with a retrospective screening of selections of their earlier feature film(s).
Submissions will be accepted from September 15–October 31, 2015. From all entries, the Festival will shortlist up to a maximum of 10 projects that will continue to the live pitching round during Buenos Aires’ annual Ventana Sur (the largest film market in South America) set to take place November 30–December 4, 2015. A jury of international professionals will determine the winning projects, which will be announced at Ventana Sur. Shortlisted finalists will be announced on November 15, 2015.
Entrants must meet the following requirements: Be an experienced independent Argentine director having theatrically released at least one feature film in Argentina. (Fiction, documentary or animation); the main production company should be Argentinean (at least 51%) and winning projects must agree to add the following statement on the credits of the final cut of the film: “WINNER: MIAMI FILM 2016” along with the Fund’s logo ​Priority will be given to the most experienced producers currently working on a live action fiction feature film.
