Advertising agency House 337 has hired former UNICEF UK head of corporate partnerships Frank Lawley as commercial director of its new sports practice, House 337 X Sport.
Lawley led the corporate partnership team at the charity, focusing on developing strategic partnerships with the private sector. Previously, he was UNICEF UK’s head of sport, overseeing partnerships that increased the social impact of sports organizations, delivering purpose-led campaigns and empowering children through sport.
House 337 x Sport is underpinned by a mission to “make better” through the power of sport, and Lawley has a brief to drive that “sport for good” agenda on behalf of rightsholders, brands and non-profits. Reporting to chief strategy officer Matt Rhodes, Lawley will also advise clients on the commercial complexities of the sports world and focus on developing and growing the new practice. Working across all the agency’s accounts, he will also take an active role in advising pro-bono clients, including Women’s Aid, PETA and Autistica.
During his tenure at UNICEF UK, Lawley worked on some of its highest-profile sports partnerships, including securing UNICEF’s global partnership with Formula 1, which focuses on helping the world’s most vulnerable children access quality education, and its innovative climate change partnership with Formula E, the all-electric motor championship. He also worked with the charity’s sports ambassadors and high-profile supporters, including Sir Andy Murray, Gareth Bale and Chris Hoy, to create and deliver campaigns.
He was responsible for creating and launching UNICEF’s Sports Advisory Board, which brought together leaders from across the sports industry to help advance the charity’s work in the sector. In 2021, he was named Sports Industry Group NextGen Leader.
Phil Fearnley, House 337 group chief executive, said, “We couldn’t have asked for a better addition to our team than Frank. He’s a bit of a unicorn with his commercial acumen combined with his commitment to social good. Frank’s expertise will be pivotal in delivering our new proposition to the industry.”
Lawley said, “I was hooked as soon as I heard about House 337’s sports practice proposition. The team is building something incredibly unique in the sports space, combining big brand creativity, real industry credibility, and a genuine commitment to social impact. I can’t wait to join Josh Green, Henry Nash, Lauren Estwick and the rest of the House 337 team.”
