Directors Guild of America National Executive Director Jay D. Roth announced that Guild executive Danny Bush has been promoted to Associate Western Executive Director.
“Danny has been a tremendous asset to the Guild and its membership,” said Roth. “He is extremely skilled as an organizer and negotiator, and dedicated to the needs of the members, traits that served us very well through our most recent contract negotiations and the expansion of our contract enforcement efforts. He will be a significant addition to the Guild’s senior executive team.”
Danny Bush joined the DGA in 2012 as an Assistant Executive Director in the Guild’s Los Angeles headquarters, with a focus on areas related to representation, contract enforcement and organizing. He oversees the Guild’s Contracts Department, including the expanded field representative program that recently saw a doubling of the number of field representatives who visit members on film, TV and commercial sets, sporting events, and local stations across the country and in Canada. Bush will continue to report to Associate National Executive Director/Western Executive Director Bryan Unger.
“Contract enforcement is one of the most critical functions of the Guild, and Danny’s role in stepping up enforcement and identifying issues that need a closer look has been critical to our ongoing success,” said Unger. “His expertise and knowledge will be put to good use as we continue to expand and improve our services to the membership.”
Bush came to the DGA from Bush Gottlieb Singer Lopez Kohanski Adelstein & Dickinson, a union-side labor law firm, where he was an attorney representing public and private sector labor unions, including serving as lead negotiator for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the Mineworkers ILWU Local 30. Previously, he worked for the SEIU as an organizer. Bush received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis and his J.D. from Yale Law School.
