Cabin Editing Company has initiated an international expansion with a new European outpost led by the all-female team of partners and editors Emma Backman and Carla Luffe, and executive producer Kayt Hall. The move follows Santa Monica-based Cabin’s successful launch of its New York facility last year, and will establish the company’s creative editorial model in the U.K. and European markets. The Cabin Europe editorial roster includes Backman and Luffe along with Dylan Edwards, Robert Lopuski and Sam Ostrove.
Backman and Luffe shared in a joint statement: “Navigating the European market can be challenging for editors, and our goal was to create something that could be more sustainable, and foster a spirit of togetherness and open-mindedness. We love Cabin’s creative-first approach, and with their collaborative way of working and their proven infrastructure, it was a no-brainer for us to partner with them to build something new in Europe.”
Headquartered in London and also operating across Europe, the team will build upon Cabin’s robust global infrastructure to help support clients throughout production and postproduction, and provide premium creative editorial services across the continent. For each client, the creative team, location, and more can be tailored to meet individual project needs–ultimately leading to a more flexible and sustainable way of working that benefits both editors and their creative partners. Cabin has already worked on projects spanning Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Paris, and Stockholm.
“Cabin has a stellar reputation for creative quality, and Emma and Carla are destination editors in Europe, so I’m incredibly excited to be leading this new initiative and invigorating the UK and European markets with our offering,” said Hall. “With Cabin, agencies, production companies, and directors know that they are getting our full attention and support from start to finish, so that the editor and creative team can just focus on the craft and not the backend.”
Ostrove, award-winning editor and one of Cabin’s original co-founders, shared: “With London being my hometown, it brings me a lot of pride to see Cabin’s ongoing growth and the opportunity to open up this office with such incredible talent. I’m lucky enough to have worked with Emma, Carla, and Kayt over the years and I know firsthand that this office could not be in better hands with them at the helm.”
