New York-based independent, full-service agency Big Spaceship is expanding to the West Coast with new leadership based out of Seattle. The expansion allows Big Spaceship to be closer to long-term clients like Starbucks, while supporting new business partnerships like Amazon.
Managing director Stacey Zimmerman is leading the expansion and has relocated to Seattle for the opportunity. She will continue to oversee client relationships at large while focusing on overall agency growth. Also relocating is Dan Bort, who is SVP and leads Big Spaceship’s strategy and analytics practice.
“Creating a West Coast hub, expanding our capabilities and services, and building a more robust presence here feels like a natural next step for us,” said Zimmerman. “We’re excited for what this proximity brings as we continue to work with clients on a range of interesting work and what this means for talent and our partners.”
The agency has already hired 10 cross-discipline staff on the West Coast to help clients with various campaigns as well as longer-term consulting initiatives, partnering with them to think more about holistic issues on an organizational level.
“Our ability to collaborate–with colleagues, partners, and clients–has been a primary component of Big Spaceship’s success over the last 22 years. The strength of those connections allowed us to remain incredibly close despite the physical distance of the last few years. And it will underpin our efforts as we extend our presence West,” said Michael Lebowitz, founder and CEO of Big Spaceship. “The last few years have, in many ways, forced organizations to rethink how they approach their business and people, and our focus on progress is incredibly well suited to their changing needs.”
The expansion comes amid more than 40% revenue growth over the last year, in conjunction with solidifying business partnerships with JPMorganChase, PepsiCo’s Evolve, Amazon, and women’s healthcare company, Tia. This new location will serve as an extension of Big Spaceship’s New York office and Big Spaceship will continue to work as one team.
