Big Deahl Productions, Chicago, will be moving its base of operations to Los Angeles by the end of 2015. Company owners, director David Deahl and executive producer Rosemary Deahl, have built Big Deahl into a decorated tabletop production house, boasting multiple Clio and Addy awards.
Big Deahl is known for producing national and international spots and while Chicago has been its home base, David Deahl has shot globally, doing spots in recent years in cities such as Tokyo, Moscow, Milan, Dubai, New York and Los Angeles.
“For as long as we can remember,” Rosemary Deahl said, “we’ve toyed with the idea of living in Los Angeles. Now that our kids are grown and settled, it gives us the opportunity to go where our hearts have been for a very long time.”
Directors Deahl and Todd Klein (formerly of Silent Partners) are the creative forces powering Big Deahl. “I have always admired Todd’s work,” said David Deahl, “and in the short time he’s been with Big Deahl he has really honed his craft into a style that is very contemporary and uniquely his.” While both directors specialize in shooting tabletop, Klein excels in the world of graphic detail.
Big Deahl sees opportunity in Los Angeles to further expand its blend of tabletop and live action, something for which many projects require two directors. The move will also allow the company to utilize its existing close-knit relationships with the Los Angeles production community and will position the shop to be even more globally mobile.
