AICP members and industry friends are invited to sign up and participate in the 5th annual #AICPGives, a Food & Goods Drive held in conjunction with the AICE and nonprofit partner Gobble Gobble Give. This year, AICP announced that the East chapter will also participate in this goodwill initiative.
- AICP and AICE member companies and all industry partners are encouraged to collect donations including:
- Canned goods, boxed food (that can be consumed without cooking)
- New or used clothing items in good condition (socks, sweaters, beanies and more)
- Unopened bars of soap & shampoo bottles, toothbrush and toothpaste kits.
In LA, donations can be dropped off at locations from October 1-November 18, 2016. Complete details for Los Angeles can be found here.
In New York, donations can be dropped off at locations October 10– November 17, 2016. Complete details for New York can be found here.
“AICP has become a vital part of the GGG family and plan,” said Gobble Gobble Give founder Barry Walker. “Every year we are able to supply L.A.’s homeless with literally thousands of meals, along with clothing and care kits. I really cannot stress enough how much AICP’s trust and help with our mission has changed and strengthened what we do. We are honored to partner with the AICP.”
Gobble Gobble Give is a simple idea. For the last 18 years an ever-growing group of friends have shown up to help cook and deliver meals, clothing and care kits, for the homeless on Thanksgiving Day. The first year GGG fed 28 men, women and children. Last year Gobble Gobble Give fed over 17,700 homeless in cities around the country including Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Austin, Las Vegas, and Nashville. Thousands of people nationwide donated warm clothes, toothbrush and toothpaste kits, soap, and slightly worn shoes. Food drives gathered almost 8,000 cans of food for the L.A area alone, providing meals our friends on the street will have for days to come. Gobble Gobble Give has become an incredible example of what a community can do to make a change.
