For one day only, the White House will transform into a movie house for what will be a live streamed event online.
The American Film Institute is collaborating with the White House for the very first White House Student Film Festival held on Friday, February 28, 2014.
K-12 students from all over the country were asked to create short films about the connection between technology and education. Inside the East Room of the White House, President Obama will offer opening remarks prior to the screening of the top films.
Tune in this Friday at 3:30 p.m. ET/ 12:30 p.m. PT to watch the film festival as well as all the 16 short films as they stream live at whitehouse.gov/live.
Kal Penn (HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE) and Neil DeGrasse Tyson will also be present at the White House event.
AFI's work with the White House marks a continuation of its presence in the nation's capital where the Institute was founded in 1965. AFI Docs, the Institute's annual documentary festival, takes place in landmark venues throughout Washington, DC and the historic AFI Silver Theatre. This year, AFI Docs will be held June 18-22.
