Producer Marcee Sanchez has joined Abandon Editorial, the shop under the aegis of managing partner/co-founder Jonny Mass and editor/co-founder Edward Khoma. With a creative background in fashion and experience assisting in architectural projects with a focus on interior finishes, Sanchez has producing experience which spans projects for clients such as Expedia, Hilton, Apple and Montefiore, among many others.
โIโve learned so much through collaboration and producing has been a way to fully embrace that,โ shared Sanchez. โIt allows me to connect with people, navigate challenges with kindness, and embrace the collaborative spirit I value deeply. Abandon stood out to me as a place that not only values great work but also nurtures its people. Seeing the way Abandonโs values align so closely with the kind of environment I want to grow in made this decision feel like the right next step. From my very first conversation with Jonny, I knew this was a team I wanted to be a part of.โ
After an early career in fashion as a creative director, Sanchez explored various creative fields before finding her calling in commercial production. In 2021, she landed a role as production coordinator with Cosmo Street Editorial where she quickly fell in love with the fast-paced, collaborative nature of postproduction. Recognizing the parallels between her past experiences in fashion and the world of commercial production, she worked her way up to associate producer with her first major job for Expedia via Wieden+Kennedy, before becoming a full-fledged producer.
โMarcee brings an incredible mix of drive, curiosity and kindnessโqualities that are essential to what weโre building at Abandon,โ said Mass. โFrom day one, it was clear that she not only had an incredibly positive energy and commitment to learning the craft, but also embodies the collaborative and respectful spirit we value. She and Joanna [exec producer Hall] make a fantastic team and weโre excited to support her as she continues to grow with us.โ
Sanchez now reunites with Hall. The two first worked together at Cosmo Street where Hall formerly served as a freelance post producer. That experience helped Sanchez hone her skills and gain a deeper understanding of production. Hallโs guidance and mentorship played a pivotal role in shaping Sanchezโs approach, and when the opportunity to join Abandon Editorial presented itself, it felt like a natural evolution.
โI couldnโt be more thrilled about Marcee joining the Abandon team,โ said Hall. โShe is exactly what we needโorganized, friendly, and always eager to help. She knows the business well and still continues to grow with every new project.โ
