Global music and sound design company Yessian Music has bolstered its team in Los Angeles with the hiring of Nick von Zumwalt as creative producer. He will work across all the Yessian locations in both production and growth of the company’s services in advertising, experiences and entertainment.
“We are excited to have Nick join our West Coast team as we look for new opportunities to expand our presence there and around the country,” said Brian Yessian, partner and chief creative officer. “Nick has had many years of experience both in the world of music and the agency side of the business, with stints that combined both of these aspects. It’s important to us that we work with people that also understand what our clients need and Nick brings those detailed qualities to our team.”
Von Zumwalt has been working with advertising agencies and brands for 15-plus years in music supervision and account management roles for the likes of Deutsch LA, AKQA, Media Arts Lab and Movers+Shakers on brands that include Bacardi, Volvo, Target, Unilever and Netflix. With a deep knowledge of brand account management, he is able to navigate the creative process all while being mindful of client needs and expectations.
“You know something special is afoot when there are so many people with 10, 20, 30+ years at a company,” said von Zumwalt of his new roost. “People who don’t even share the last name Yessian! Not to toot horns as the new guy, but the teams here have built a caring and collaboratively creative space that I’m excited to join, learn from, and add my own fingerprint on. I’m looking forward to helping grow Yessian into new audio spaces and industries, learn from the amazing talents here, and bring additional talent into the mix for our clients. I keep thinking, if it ain’t broke, keep building.”
Originally hailing from Long Beach, Calif., von Zumwalt has spent time on both coasts. Music started at a young age going to concerts with his parents and learning playing the piano and guitar, which evolved into an early job in his music career at Tower Records as the “indie music guy” selecting the best music for the listening stations. That was a natural evolution selecting and producing the music for global brands with both agencies and music supervision companies.
