The International Cinematographers Guild (ICG, IATSE Local 600) has appointed two new regional directors, naming Joey Brenner the Central Region director and promoting Anna Nowlan to the role of Eastern Region director.
ICG national executive director Alex Tonisson said of Brenner and Nowlan, โThey are both passionate about representing our members and the need for a strong labor movement in the entertainment industry.โ
Brenner most recently served as the director of organizing and bargaining with the SEIU-Florida Public Services Union, where he managed and mentored a team of organizers and secured numerous collective bargaining agreements during moments of unrest and change, such as the Great Recession and the COVID-19 pandemic. With over a decade in the labor movement, Brenner has expertise which also includes grievance processing and arbitration.
โWith such a long history in the labor movement, weโre excited about the skills, experience and expertise Joey will bring to our organization,โ said Deborah Lipman, ICGโs 1st national VP.
Nowlan joined the ICG as a business representative for the Eastern Region in April 2019 and served as assistant Eastern Region director before moving into her new role. Born in El Salvador, Nowlan came to the United States in 1997 and learned about the labor movement at an early age, through her motherโs leadership role in the textile worker union UNITE HERE. In addition to a career in labor organization, Nowlan has also worked as a community organizer and for Barack Obamaโs reelection campaign in 2012.
โIn her years with the union, Anna has fought tirelessly for our Eastern Region members and our membership as a whole,โ said Chris Silano, ICG National VP.
Brenner and Nowlan round out ICGโs roster of three regional directors, joining Western Region director Michaella Bursalyan, who was appointed to her role in January 2024.
