  • 2:00-2:45PM   Producers Perspectives: The Evolving Advertising & Entertainment Industries:
    This session will take a look at key creative, production and business issues.  Producers of advertising and entertainment content discuss their roles spanning diverse content forms, talent development and the coming together of advertising and entertainment.
    Panelists:
    Joshua Blum, founder and president of Washington Square Films, has produced films including "All is Lost," "A Most Violent Year" and "Margin Call".  Washington Square Film also has a commerical director roster and manages actors, writers & directors.
    Kira Carstensen, president of Commercials and Music Videos at Pulse Films which is involved in the development, production, financing and distribution of cross-platform content including Film, Television, Branded Entertainment and Music & Commercials divisions as well as a talent management component.
    Scott Chinn, executive broadcast producer, Droga5 New York, will discuss his work and the evolving role of today’s agency producer across different platforms and disciplines. Chin’s career spans such shops as J. Walter Thompson, Merkley and Partners, Lowe Worldwide and Johannes Leonardo, and clients like Google, General Motors, Diageo, Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft and Mercedes-Benz.
    Anthony Nelson, head of content production at J. Walter Thompson New York. Nelson joined the agency earlier this year after having served as director of production at Goodby Silverstein & Partners NY. Prior to that he was with BBDO NY as group executive producer for GE.
     
  • 2:50-3:30PM Content & Technology: Creative Production & Post Tools:
    POVs from DPs, VR and post artisans on a growing toolbox and how it can facilitate breaking new creative ground.  Panelists will discuss projects and touch on camera choices, digital workflow solutions and Virtual Reality.
    Panelists:
    Trevor Forrest
    , cinematographer, whose upcoming films include "The Girl in the Book" which will premiere at the L.A. Film Festival, "Daughter of God" starring Keanu Reeves, and director Rory Rooney's "Unreachable by Conventional Means".
    Brendan Kiernan, managing director of HeLo will discuss immersive theater, a new wrinkle in the experiential landscape.This month HeLo is bringing "The Day Shall Declare Us"--an immersive experiential theatre installation exploring the concept of work--to life in Los Angeles. HeLo will also be showcasing its expertise at Cannes next month, hosting a workshop that will immerse an audience in the 360-degree artform and shedding light on the implications of all this for the advertising/marketing arena so we are excited to hear about it now.
    Sam Smith, creative director, MediaMonks, a global creative production company in Los Angeles. Sam's deep understanding of postproduction and visual effects give him a technical advantage and the deep insight needed to bring the most creative ideas into reality. Sam's background includes working as a commercial editor and a Nuke/Flame artist on commercials for Acura, Apple, Starbucks and videos for countless high profile music artists.
    Jay Tilin, head of the editorial department & finishing editor for feature film and episodic television shows at Company 3 in New York.  Among the the first to conform television/streaming jobs in 4K and HDR, Tilin’s extensive experience in new editorial technologies, and his keen eye for compositing, beauty and other VFX work, makes him ideal to discuss today's technical and artistic challenges, and provide his perspective on HDR. Recent projects include the series "True Detective" and biopic "Bessie" for HBO.
    Kristin Tomborello, executive producer, BBDO New York. Kristin will discuss virtual reality, having served as executive interactive producer on the recently released VR film “A Walk in Their Shoes” for AT&T and TOMS shoes, produced by Vrse.works.
     
  • 3:35-4:05PM   Role Reversal:  Attorney Jeffrey A. Greenbaum On The Witness Stand 
    SHOOT publisher Roberta Griefer questions Jeff about must-know legal Do's & Don'ts for producing great work without negative legal consequences.  Managing Partner of Advertising & Entertainment law firm, Frankfurt Kurnit Klein + Selz PC since 2010, Jeff is one of the country’s leading advertising lawyers with extensive experience representing advertisers, ad agencies and media companies on advertising, marketing, branded entertainment, and intellectual property matters. He counsels clients on regulation, rights clearance, agency/client contracts, production contracts, e-commerce, consumer privacy, sweepstakes and contests, union issues, network clearance, and global advertising clearance.  Best Lawyers named him "Advertising Lawyer of the Year" in the New York metro area for 2015.  An engaging and entertaining speaker, we are looking forward to hearing what Jeff has to say.  Session will allot time for audience discussion so bring your questions to cross-examine Jeff in order to gain further insights into legal matters, issues and concerns.
     
  • 4:10-5:00PM   In the Directors Chair Interview: Alan Taylor
    We are thrilled to bring our audience this special interview session with such a multi-talented director. SHOOT editor, Bob Goldrich, will interview Alan about his film, television and branded content projects.
    Alan has helmed Terminator: Genisys, starring Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney and Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World, which went on to gross $645 million worldwide.  These two blockbuster projects have come on the heels of an acclaimed body of television work. Taylor won an Emmy in 2007 for directing the “Kennedy and Heidi” episode of The Sopranos, and was nominated by the Television Academy two more times: outstanding drama for Game of Thrones (for which he served as a co-executive producer) and outstanding directing for Mad Men’s instant-classic pilot “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes.” That pilot episode also earned him a DGA Award (he was nominated again the following year for directing season two’s “The Mountain King”).Taylor is now commencing work on Roadside Picnic, a television series based on the acclaimed science fiction novel of the same name. Other celebrated series that Taylor has directed include Boardwalk Empire, Bored to Death, Nurse Jackie, In Treatment, Big Love, Rome, Deadwood, Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, The West Wing, Homicide: Life on the Street and Oz.  Alan is represented globally by Bullitt for brand-supported work, among them, recent projects for Game of War and Hearthstone.
 
During the evening New Directors Showcase Program 5:30-9:30pm, you'll get a look-see at and meet some of the best up-and-coming directors who based on their initial work show promise to make positive contributions to advertising and/or entertainment in its traditional and hybrid forms.

Again, this year SHOOT is pleased to offer complimentary registration to the ENTIRE DIRECTORS/PRODUCERS Forum, New Directors Showcase & After Party to  production & post executives and artisans from Ad Agencies, Brands, Networks, Studios and Companies.  Yes, really no charge! REGISTER HERE to request event ticket.

PLEASE NOTE: We are limited to 436 seats in the Theater so we expect the event to fill up fast.  We will do our best to accommodate all qualified registration requests, but we may not be able to accommodate everyone.  We would greatly appreciate it if you DO NOT fill out the registration form until you are certain that you will be able to attend and if you register, and then find that you are unable to attend, please let us know so that we are able to include someone on the waiting list.
