Tower, which earlier in the week won the South By Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival’s Grand Jury Award for best documentary, came up on top again, taking the Audience Award in the SXSW docu feature competition. Directed by Keith Maitland, Tower delves into the sniper shootings at the University of Texas at Austin on Aug. 1, 1966, a tragedy which rocked the campus, the country and the world at large.

Meanwhile taking the Audience Award for best narrative feature was Transpecos, a thriller starring Gabriel Luna, Johnny Simmons and Clifton Collins Jr. as three U.S.-Mexico border patrol agents who get embroiled in the drug trade. Transpecos marks the feature directorial debut of Greg Kwedar who also co-wrote the script (with Clint Bentley). Kwedar and Bentley were also producers of the film.
