Smuggler Adds Director Ben Tricklebank To Its Global Spot Roster

Director Ben Tricklebank has joined Smuggler for global commercial representation. The multidisciplinary filmmaker--whose work spans interactive films, VR fare, digital experiences and commercials--was formerly at Tool of North America

Tricklebank made his initial industry mark as a creative director on projects including Arcade Fire’s “Wilderness Downtown” and The Creators Project’s “Treachery of Sanctuary. He then segued into directing, establishing himself as an accomplished live-action helmer. Over the past decade, Tricklebank has become one of the industry’s most awarded digital directors. He and Erich Joiner of Tool directed the interactive documentary Clouds Over Cuba for the JFK Presidential Library and Foundation via The Martin Agency. Clouds Over Cuba won a News and Documentary Emmy and earned distinction as the most awarded digital project in the U.S. in 2013. Tricklebank’s work has also won Grand Prix, Gold and Titanium Cannes Lions, D&AD Black and Yellow Pencils, as well as recognition from the One Show, Clios, ADC and SXSW.

Among director Tricklebank’s notable campaigns are Hennessy out of Droga5, Sony Bravia for DDB, Mini Cooper via Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners, Nationwide for Ogilvy & Mather, and an experimental series for Glenfiddich Whisky. In 2015, Tricklebank created the breathtaking installation piece “Light Echoes” at the Barbican in London. His film for the Converse “Made By You” campaign was shortlisted in two categories at the 2016 One Show. 2016 also saw the opening of Tricklebank’s first solo art exhibition, “Endec,” at the Gazelli Art House in London. The show featured a series of photographs coupled with an interactive installation.

So far in 2017, Tricklebank has to his credit another film for Sony, along with spots for Microsoft, Toyota, Audible and Lexus.
