Writer and director Lauren Sick has signed with RESET for commercial representation.
Sick grew up in the dark woods of suburbia screening inappropriate horror movies at slumber parties, an origin story that echoes in her diverse body of work. Her narrative psychological horror film Pare–which she wrote and directed–screened at the Oscar and BAFTA-qualifying Rhode Island International Film Festival and has been released as a Fangoria exclusive with distribution through ALTER and Gunpowder & Sky. Pare earned Best Horror Short and Best Female Director distinction at the Indie Short Fest, and the Jury Prize for Best Horror Short at the Indie Shorts Awards NY. Sick also recently directed the pilot for the narrative podcast, Rich Girl, from the creators of Pretty Little Liars, and will make her debut directing two episodes of television this fall on a series produced by Eli Roth.
Sick’s cinematic sensibility and deft direction of performance can also be seen throughout her commercial work, for brands including GAP, New Balance, Michelob, Trident, Xfinity, Beats by Dre, and Ford. Her Ford spot “Scary Fast,” inspired by classic horror themes, can be seen in movie theaters nationwide playing before Jordan Peele’s film Nope. Prior to joining RESET, Sick was most recently with Greenpoint Pictures.
Dave Morrison, managing director, co-founder (with David Fincher), and owner at RESET, said of Sick: “Lauren’s work struck us all as both singular, versatile, and highly cinematic, which felt like a good mix with the other curated directors at RESET. We are looking forward to helping Lauren continue reaching a bigger audience through the large platform of resources here at RESET and are excited to get started.”
Sick said, “When meeting with Dave, Michael (EP Garza), Jen (EP Beitler), and the whole sales team, I was immediately struck by their creative vision and passionate dedication to making lasting, exceptional work. Their commitment to investing in the development of emerging voices across both commercials and film and television is evident in the legacy they’ve established over the past decade. To be a part of that story, and to be directing alongside industry titans and some of my own personal heroes, is a true honor.”
