Wink Music, headed by composer/producer Ed Hoke, has expanded its roster with the signing of two Chicago-based producers, Marc Williams (a.k.a. M-Doc) and Shannon Syas (a.k.a DJ Skip), and New York-based sound designer Jonathan Helfand.
Williams is an R&B/hip-hop specialist currently signed to Polygram, which produced his latest album, Free. He has re-mixed tracks including Madonnas Take A Bow, Janet Jacksons Runaway and Keith Sweats Just a Little Bit. Syas, a DJ/producer/re-mix artist, has worked primarily in the dance and techno realm. He has spun tracks at dance parties in such countries as France, Spain, Germany and Portugal.
Additionally, the Evanston-based Wink has signed a deal to represent Helfand, of Jonathan Helfand Music & Post, New York, in the Midwest. In return, Wink and clients needing to do sound design or audio post in New York will have access to Helfands Manhattan facility, which includes two state-of-the-art mixing rooms. Among Helfands recent credits are spots for AT&T via Kang & Lee, New York; Tylenol via Saatchi & Saatchi, New York; and ESPN via Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, Ore.
With my unique experience, said Hoke, as well as the addition of our new African-American producers and a base in New York City, I truly feel that we can genuinely represent the cultures that our advertisers want to reach.
Since opening Wink Music in 1989, Hoke has specialized in world beat music and often uses instruments from other cultures in his scores. Among Hokes recent credits are spots for Busch Gardens via DDB Needham Chicago and Jeep Wrangler out of Bozell Worldwide, Southfield, Mich.
Wink is represented by Brad Thomas in the Detroit market and nationally by Chicago-based Mike Fuller.
