Directors/ animators Charlie Canfield and Robert Valley have joined San Francisco-based animation studio Wild Brain. The two helmers come aboard the shop’s spot roster but will also contribute to features, TV and Internet projects.
On the latter score, Valley is currently directing the series Anita Bomba for the studio’s Web channel, wildbrain.com. Additionally, he’s directing a three-spot campaign for Sony Music Entertainment via its in-house agency. Valley is working closely with Wild Brain’s Ed Bell, who’s serving as an animation creative director, on the Sony project. Bell is a staff director at the studio.
Meanwhile at Wild Brain, Canfield is directing the animated credits sequence for the summer theatrical release, The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, produced for Universal Studios. He also just wrapped a computer-animated "curtain riser" for Century Theatres.
Canfield and Valley are hardly strangers to Wild Brain in that both have been freelancing regularly with the company since August, working with the studio’s executive producer of commercials, Paul Golden. Valley freelance directed a Wild Brain-produced Coca-Cola spot, "Baseball," for Ogilvy & Mather, New York. Upon joining Wild Brain, he’s turned out several projects, including designing and directing the show open for Oxygen Network’s Pajama Party and co-directing with Wild Brain’s George Evelyn the 2-D/3-D Coke "Sun" commercial entitled "Bright World" for the now defunct Edge Creative.
