Knowledge Networks/SRI’s MultiMedia Mentor study of Internet streamers found they spend up to 67 percent more time online than average Internet users, which bodes well for marketers.
The study found that teen streamers spend 28 percent more time on the Internet, young adult streamers spend 41 percent more time on the Internet and adult streamers spend 67 percent more time.
The research also shows that 42 percent of teens view streaming video or audio content at least once a week and that men are twice as likely as women to be regular users of streaming video.
“Frequent use of streaming content represents a watershed moment for marketers,” said Robert DeFelice, VP of Knowledge Networks/SRI. “Streaming online media is clearly associated with a greater reliance on the Internet for entertainment and information, which leads to more time devoted to the medium. The fact that streamers often belong to such desirable ad targets as teens and young adults suggests the value of a sophisticated marketing approach in this medium.”
