Vito DeSario Editing, New York, has changed its name and location. The new moniker is Version2. Editing, a.k.a. V2, which coincides with the company’s relocation to Manhattan’s Chelsea area.
Vito DeSario, president/editor at V2, gave a philosophical explanation for the transformation. "An editor’s life is about making changes," he said, acknowledging that it was time to shed the old skin while keeping the company’s core intact. DeSario explained that he had wanted to change the shop’s name for a long time, as "the company is not just me. I have all these great editors, and they stand on their own."
The new space will have an audio studio with recording booths, six full-time editing rooms for V2’s editors, and two additional editing rooms which DeSario intends to rent out. All rooms will be equipped with Macintosh G4 workstations to allow graphics to be rendered and incorporated during editing sessions.
DeSario intends to use the two extra editing rooms on a flexible basis for in-house personnel or editors seeking a temporary roost in Manhattan. "I like the energy of different sensibilities," he said, adding that he wanted to build affiliations with editors from other cities and other media.
New York-based Liquid Light, a visual effects house, will be renting an additional two rooms within the V2 space. Liquid Light also rented space from Vito DeSario at its former location.
DeSario said that his involvement in Internet projects was another motivating factor behind the company’s move and name change. "Broadband media is one of the reasons we’re in the area we are," he explained. "We’re in a building that is completely wired with other like-minded companies."
In addition to DeSario, the company’s editorial roster consists of Stephen Cheifitz, Kevin Chicken, Mark Nickelsburg, Lin Polito and Chris Van Dyke. Executive producer Michael Pollock reps the company.
