THE SPOTS
"Goth" (:30) features a Goth-style girl who sees things differently from others. She is shown taking pictures of unusual subjects with a Kodak Advantix one-time-use camera. The scene then shifts to the Goth girl in front of her class, opening a folder to a display of photos. Most of her classmates react with surprise at the contents, but one boy locks eyes with her, and as she gives a slight smile, he smiles back. In "Tribes" (:30), a girl with a Kodak Max camera enters a high school cafeteria and takes pictures of various cliques—athletes, cheerleaders, intellectuals and outsiders. The girl is subsequently shown sitting on her bed, trimming the photos, and later the pix are shown on display on a school bulletin board where a punk boy and a cheerleader stand next to each other and find photos of themselves paired up in the display. They look at each other and exchange shy smiles as the song "Why Can’t We Be Friends?" plays. Both spots end with the tag line, "Capture someone’s attention. Capture what’s inside you. Kodak 1X-Use."
Spots broke Aug. 14.
