Barcelona-based director Erik Morales has signed with TWC Films for exclusive representation in the U.S. His work has been shortlisted many times at Cannes and last year his Nike “Shine” spot earned a Bronze Lion. He has also garnered recognition at such international festivals as FIAP.
Morales’ spot filmography spans assorted clients, including Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Coca-Cola, Diesel, Toyota and Sony. Three of his commercials–Nike’s “Magnificent 5,” VW Beetle’s “Balloon” and Audi’s “Projections”–were shown at the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid.
Born in Spain, Morales majored in media studies at the university Facultad de Ciencias de la Comunicacion Blanquerna. While there, he wrapped numerous short films and won prizes in festivals around Spain. He successfully moved into commercials, firmly establishing himself in Spain as a leading filmmaker. “Spain has always produced an amazing amount of interesting directorial talent–Victor Garcia, Pep Bosch, Nacho Gayan, all spectacular in their own way,” said Mark Thomas, TWC’s managing director. “I believe Erik is next in that line of amazing filmmakers–directors who tell stories in a rich, compelling and clever manner.”
Morales joins a TWC directorial roster that also includes Suthon Petchsuwan, Arni Thor Jonsson, Ken Lambert, Steve Reeves, No Brain, Sven Super, Jeroen Mol, and Tim Brown.
