While the swan song season of Mad Men earned 11 Emmy Award nominations, including for Outstanding Drama Series, the real-world ad industry continued to make its mark on the competition with TBWA\Chiat\Day leading the way with two Best Commercial nominations–for Nissan’s “With Dad” directed by Lance Acord of Park Pictures, and Gatorade’s “Made In New York” directed by Henry-Alex Rubin of Smuggler.
Meanwhile the already much lauded Procter & Gamble/Always’ #LikeAGirl short directed by Lauren Greenfield of Chelsea Pictures for Leo Burnett garnered a primetime commercial Emmy nomination as did the Snickers’ Super Bowl spot titled “Brady Bunch” directed by Jim Jenkins of O Positive for BBDO New York.
Anomaly New York–which had two nominated commercials last year–is once again in the running for an Emmy on the strength of Budweiser's "Lost Dog," a Super Bowl ad directed by Jake Scott of RSA.
And rounding out the field of nominated spots was Adobe’s “Dream On” from Goodby Silverstein & Partners, directed by Brady Baltezore and Mike Landry, and produced by eLevel Studio.
The winning spot will be announced and honored at the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony on Sept. 12 in Los Angeles.
