TBWAChiatDay Los Angeles has promoted Kirsten Rutherford to executive creative director. She joins the agency’s creative leadership team alongside Renato Fernandez, chief creative officer, and Caleb Jensen, executive creative director.
“Kirsten is a combination of fierce talent and cultural leadership with a high bar for creativity. She represents a new breed of talent this industry needs,” said Fernandez. “Not only does she push for creative excellence, she’s a big proponent of creating meaningful culture and has been a major part of our transformation. Kirsten is helping to shape the future of our agency and has already made an incredible impact during her tenure here.”
Rutherford started her TBWAChiatDay LA journey in 2015 where she led creative for brands including Intuit QuickBooks, Southwest Airlines, Viking Cruises and Persil. She also spearheaded Gatorade’s “Sisters in Sweat” campaign, the Save Energy LA Campaign for the L.A. Mayor’s Office as well as work for TrinityKidsCare Hospice and Make-A-Wish Foundation. She had a brief stint at Team One managing global creative for Expedia before rejoining TBWAChiatDay LA in April 2020.
Throughout her career at ChiatDay LA, she’s been instrumental in the agency’s growth in talent and in new business. She currently co-leads the agency’s Women’s Affinity Group and most recently was the U.S. Ambassador Judge for the 2021 Gerety Awards.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join the creative leadership crew alongside Renato and Caleb,” said Rutherford. “A place that encourages us all to be more human (if in doubt, be more dog) that also recognizes good enough is not good enough when it comes to the work, is a very special place indeed. Being able to build on that kindness and creativity is something I’m so grateful for.”
