B-Reel Films has signed director Russell Brownley who is currently wrapping up post on a Nike project and a short film for Patron out of Mullen Lowe. Brownley started as a documentarian for the nonprofit world and segued into the commercialmaking arena. He has collaborated with clients such as Timberland, Red Bull, Google, Verizon, Sony, Pepsico and World Vision. Prior to B-Reel Films, Brownley worked directly out of his self-owned studio. Brownley will be represented by B-Reel Films throughout North America, Scandinavia and the UK.
Director T.J. Misny has joined Greenpoint Pictures for commercial film representation. His comedy shorts, including Broad City: I Heart New York featuring Amy Poehler, Millennial Horror Story, and Why Starbucks Spells Your Name Wrong, have accumulated over 25 million views on YouTube. His trio of dark comic shorts, Intimate Semaphores starring Kate Lyn Sheil , Ariane Labed and Jocelin Donahue made its American premiere at the opening night of the 2014 Brooklyn Film Festival, where it won best editing, and its international premiere at the 2014 Stockholm Film Festival where it was nominated for iFestival award. Each story in the collection explore the lives of artistic young New Yorkers who find their creative pursuits coming into direct conflict with other aspects of their lives. The 2014 Tribeca Film Festival honored I Hate Being Single, another series directed by Minsy, in its NOW showcase. “Dune: Part Two” and “House of the Dragon” Win 2 HPA Awards Apiece
Dune: Part Two and House of the Dragon each scored two HPA Awards during a gala ceremony at the Television Academyโs Wolf Theatre in North Hollywood, Calif. on Thursday night (11/7). The HPA Awards honor trailblazing talent in the postproduction industry, celebrating standout achievements in color grading, sound, editing, restoration, and visual effects across theatrical features, commercials, and episodics.
Dune: Part Two topped the Outstanding Color Grading--Live Action Theatrical Feature and the Outstanding Sound--Theatrical Feature categories.
House of the Dragonโs two wins were for โThe Red Dragon and the Goldโ episode which scored for Outstanding Visual Effects--Live Action Episode or Series Season, and Outstanding Editing--Episode or Non-Theatrical Feature (Over 30 Minutes). In the latter HPA Creative Category, House of the Dragon tied with the โPart Six: Far,l Far Awayโ episode of Ahsoka.
