Manhattan-based design and animation studio Spontaneous has hired branding expert Darryl Mascarenhas as executive creative director. An Emmy-nominated creative director and live action filmmaker, Mascarenhas joins managing director Cara Cutrone to continue the integration of live action and strategic branding solutions at Spontaneous. Mascarenhas has held sr. leadership roles at Loyalkaspar, MPC, Eyeball and Quietman. He has worked with Fortune 500 companies such as AT&T, Disney, General Motors, Hewlett Packard and Microsoft. He recently created the opening titles for the 2016 AICP Show at MOMA, following the sponsor title sequence he created for the event in 2015. Additionally, Mascarenhas has creatively led and directed content for many broadcast networks, including the complete rebrand of Lifetime. At Spontaneous, Mascarenhas will utilize the powerful infrastructure in place as part of the Lively Group network of companies. Y&R, following rapid expansion of its Labstore Europe shopper marketing business, has appointed a new leadership team to drive network integration and accelerate growth. The network has appointed Daniel Pownall, the founder of creative boutique Mr. Nice, to the new role of executive creative director of Labstore Europe. And Martin Wolf, previously Labstore’s strategy chief in Vienna, has been promoted to managing director of Labstore Europe. Pownall is responsible for co-ordinating all creative activity for Labstore across Europe and will work to build Labstore’s Madrid agency into a shopper design and communications hub for other offices in the network. Wolf, who will continue to drive shopper strategy out of Labstore’s Vienna office, will now also be responsible for the strategic and business development of Labstore Europe offices in nine countries and strengthening relationships with key clients such as Movistar, Danone, GE Money Bank, Eroski, and BEL. The appointments follow the launch of six Labstore Europe offices in the last six months in Budapest, Lisbon, Moscow, Paris, Prague and Vienna. Y&R’s ambition is to build on its shopper marketing centers in Madrid and Vienna that serve as Labstore hubs for the region. Expansion plans include new offices in Italy, Turkey and Germany in 2017. Audio post company Sound Lounge has appointed Ali Corsie to serve as producer. Corsie will work in a project management and administrative capacity across mixing, sound design and casting for television and radio commercials, digital content and interactive media. Since joining Sound Lounge, Corsie has worked with agency partners on projects for brands such as Heineken, Mercedes Benz and Duracell.
