Belgian illustrator, character designer and animation director Renaud Lavency has been added to the directorial roster at Hornet. His style is a mix of evocative 2D illustration, bold and unexpected use of color, and cinematic storytelling. Lavency started out his career on the agency side of the business, spending five years as a creative conceptor at Wunderman Thompson where he cut his chops as an idea man and developed not only a knack for narrative-driven campaigns but a reverence for the brief. He built an illustrious body of illustrative work while problem solving for a wide range of clients. This translated into his diversifying deeply in character design and animation directing. His portfolio grew, encompassing varied content from elegant explainer films for Userway to a sprawling mix of cinematic illustrations. Now he embarks on a new career chapter at Hornet where he will collaborate with the studio’s animation talent on diverse directorial endeavors….
Design-first creative studio ATKPLN has extended its footprint to Chicago with the hiring of Larissa Berringer as executive producer. She joins ATKPLN’s existing team of talented artists and producers in Dallas to build out a new Chicago presence. The expansion comes along with a new website and punching up of the company brand. She comes aboard after the recent addition of executive creative director Daniel DelPurgatorio. Berringer got her start as a production assistant on the Showtime series Weeds. She then moved from L.A. to Chicago and transitioned into the VFX industry. She served as exec producer at Vitamin Pictures and then became sr. producer at The Mill before taking on the role as U.S. EP of design at Framestore, building that company’s design offering nationally….
