Los Angeles-based Boxer Films has signed directing duo Diego & Vladi for U.S. commercial representation. They began directing together in 2005 and were chosen as Best Directors of Colombia in El Ojo de Iberomerica in 2007 and 2008. In 2011, they took home four Cannes Lions for their campaign for Argentinean air conditioner brand BGH out of Del Campo Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi Buenos Aires. Vladi’s short film Soy Tan Feliz was nominated for La Palme d’Or at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival and was selected for numerous festivals including Slamdance, Glasgow, Sao Paulo, Zagreb and Rio de Janeiro, among others. He has worked as a 2nd Unit Director and 1st AD for several feature films in Latin America and France. Diego’s first short film, De cómo Buckowsi, was selected for numerous film festivals worldwide including Berlin, Interfilm Short Festival and was awarded an honorable mention by the jury of the Festival of Sao Paulo….CP+B has promoted Aymi Beltramo and Aaron Kovan to executive integrated producers. Beltramo is based in the agency’s Los Angeles office, while Kovan is based in Boulder, Colo. In her new role which also includes VP stripes, Beltramo will oversee all production for Kraft brands as well as American Express Open. Beltramo has worked at CP+B since 1999 in all of the agency’s U.S. offices from Miami to Boulder to L.A. During those 13 years, she’s produced both international and domestic work for Burger King as well as projects for nearly all of CP+B’s clients past and present, including VW, Best Buy, Guitar Hero, Coke Zero, belVita, Sprite, Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, Microsoft, Domino’s Pizza and American Express. Beltramo’s recent work can be seen in the KRAFT Macaroni and Cheese TV spots “A Father’s Lesson” and “Diamond Jubilee” as well as the American Express spot “Reveille” and TV work for Small Business Saturday. Kovan came to CP+B two years ago and has since worked on a wide range of projects for Best Buy, Vail, Old Navy, Burger King and Windows Phone. Oscar Nominees Delve Into The Art Of Editing At ACE Session
You couldn’t miss Sean Baker at this past Sunday’s Oscar ceremony where he won for Best Picture, Directing, Original Screenplay and Editing on the strength of Anora. However, earlier that weekend he was in transit from the Cesar Awards in Paris and thus couldn’t attend the American Cinema Editors (ACE) 25th annual panel of Academy Award-nominated film editors held at the Regal LA Live Auditorium on Saturday (3/1) in Los Angeles. While the eventual Oscar winner in the editing category was missed by those who turned out for the ACE “Invisible Art, Visible Artists” session, three of Baker’s fellow nominees were on hand--Dávid Jancsó, HSE for The Brutalist; Nick Emerson for Conclave; and Myron Kerstein, ACE for Wicked. Additionally, Juliette Welfling, who couldn’t appear in person due to the Cesar Awards, was present via an earlier recorded video interview to discuss her work on Emilia Pérez. The interview was conducted by ACE president and editor Sabrina Plisco, ACE who also moderated the live panel discussion. Kerstein said that he was the beneficiary of brilliant and generous collaborators, citing, among others, director Jon M. Chu, cinematographer Alice Brooks, and visual effects supervisor Pablo Helman. The editor added it always helps to have stellar acting performances, noting that hearing Cynthia Erivo, for example, sing live was a revelation.
