Director Lauren Caris Cohan has joined the roster of Stink Films globally–a move which comes after the recent launch of Lost Angeles, her film for AG Jeans starring British fashion icon Alexa Chung.
New York born and bred, Cohan is a writer, director and creative director who specializes in emotional, visceral, and deeply personal storytelling. She started her career as the artistic director with clothing retailer Free People; it was there that she spearheaded both its internal creative team and branded-content initiative to create FP Presents, an online narrative film program telling elevated and evocative narrative stories.
Cohan’s first film series Roshambo, starring Christopher Abbott, was met with success–the short film trilogy received over one million views across YouTube and Vimeo. Cohan’s branded films have since been Staff Picked by Vimeo on multiple occasions.
Cohan’s tenure with Free People gave her the opportunity to travel the globe and have shaped her unique, occasionally humorous-yet-always-emotionally aware storytelling style. She is currently in development with Imagine Entertainment , 21st Century Fox and Hulu on a TV series based on her “Vimeo Staff Pick of the Month” short film entitled Dream Girl.
Jeff Baron, managing director of Stink Films, said, “Lauren is a strong and independent director who has forged a unique and sensitive style of directing. She has an ability to recognize and reproduce true human sentiment in her work.”
Cohan shared, “I’m so excited to be joining a roster comprised of such inspiring and innovative storytellers. The Stink network is filled with amazingly talented forward thinkers– I’m honored to be a part of it and can’t wait to get started.”
