THE SPOT
"Power By Design" (:60) shows how Quaker State Motor Oil teams with Hendrick engines and the NASCAR champion drivers to make a winning combination. Racing footage is intercut with interviews from Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports, and Randy Dorton, his chief engine builder. They relate how Quaker State gets the most from engines, which take so much punishment that "one lap around the track is equivalent to a month’s worth of driving the kids to school in an SUV." Toward the end of the ad, clips of Hendrick drivers Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson, as well as the high-tech Hendrick Motorsports facility, are shown.
