Director Jonathan Hyde has joined Station Film for commercial representation globally, including London partner Outsider for the U.K. Known for evocative visual storytelling, his work includes Mitsubishi’s “Big Night Out,” which depicts its fun-loving owners out about town while highlighting the Mirage’s great gas mileage (via 180 LA), and Corona’s “Live Mas Fina,” an ethereal and exuberant look at living life to its fullest (via Zulu Alpha Kilo Toronto).
He has also directed spots for Levi’s, Converse, Pepsi, Puma, Pentax and Ford, among others. Hyde, who was formerly handled by Boxer Films, has been recognized with honors including a Cannes YDA and inclusion in SHOOT’s 2012 New Directors Showcase.
Hyde brings a wealth of experience in digital and postproduction to Station Film. It includes positions at METAphrenie, Berlin, as sr. art director, and designer/art Director at Frame Studio, Montreal. He has also worked as a motion graphics/VFX Artist in Argentina, Mexico, Norway, France and Germany, where his fluency in Spanish, French and German served him well. His focus shifted to live action in 2010 when he began his directing career.
“Joining Station Film will help me take things to the next level as a director,” Hyde said. “The company has a strong bicoastal presence, with a lot of experience and enthusiasm to create memorable work. My goal is to make great content, using every tool possible. We’ll pursue opportunities to tell stories through live-action casting and performance, or use visual effects as a narrative device, just as you would use a character or location.”
Hyde’s other noteworthy projects include branded short, Chronos, which combines surrealism and photorealism. And as part of his collaboration with Levi’s and Wieden+Kennedy, Hyde volunteered his expertise and enthusiasm to Levi’s Film Workshop, a community pop-up space to help young artists create films held during MOCA’s acclaimed “Art in the Streets” exhibition. He is currently developing a short film that falls in the realm of dramatic surrealism.
