Sound Lounge, an artist-owned and operated audio postproduction studio in New York City, has promoted Dana Villarreal to executive producer of the commercial division.
Villarreal brings 18 years of experience in the audio post space. She began her career as an assistant and working her way up to managerial level. She joined as a sr. producer at Sound Lounge in July 2021, focusing on producing and managing the day-to-day production aspects of Sound Lounge’s busy commercial division and working with brands including M&M’s, Google, Samsung and Chevy. From her time spent at Nutmeg Audio Post, PLUSHnyc and now Sound Lounge, Villarreal understands the full scope of producing a job, from bid to billing.
“Dana has stood out as an exceptional producer since she started and we know her passion and skill set will allow her to thrive in her new role,” said Marshall Grupp, partner, COO, and sound designer at Sound Lounge.
As commercial division EP, Villarreal will be responsible for nurturing Sound Lounge’s long-standing relationships with clients and other key players in the industry and supervising the commercial production team and its services.
“Working at an established studio like Sound Lounge has been the highlight of my career,” said Villarreal. “I’m looking forward to managing this talented team of individuals and focusing more on the bigger picture aspects of the commercial division that are vital to its continued success.”
The commercial division at Sound Lounge has provided audio mixing for TV, radio and digital media, securing hundreds of Super Bowl spots and winning major awards including Cannes Lions, Clios, Yellow Pencils and AICP honors.
