Bicoastal sound studio One Thousand Birds has hired Hayley Livingston as sound designer and mixer in New York. After almost a year of creating sound for commercials, feature length films, shorts, and podcasts as a freelance artist, Livingston is the first woman to join the OTB team full-time in this role.
As a musician herself, Livingston has always been passionate about sound, shifting toward audio postproduction and sound design in college when she discovered a love for cutting sound for picture. Her career spans dialogue editing and Foley art, along with other audio post specialties, She will be responsible for sound designing and mixing commercial and film projects for both brand and agency clients. Livingston will report directly to co-founder/creative director Andrew Tracy, and lead sound designer Torin Geller.
The hiring of Livingston–who had freelanced for OTB–is also a testament to the company’s homegrown spirit and commitment to inclusion, as they’ve spent the last year training her and helping her grow into a career in the traditionally male-dominated audio post industry.
Livingston is a graduate of the music technology program at NYU’s Steinhardt school. Outside of work, she enjoys singing and playing guitar, bass and drums for bands like Human People and gobbinjr.
