Comedy writer and director Lucy Forbes has joined SMUGGLER for worldwide commercial representation.
The London-based filmmaker found breakout success with the darkly comedic coming of age story, In My Skin, for the BBC and went on to serve as lead director on season 2 of UK Channel 4/Netflix’s critically acclaimed series End of the F**ing World.
Her work is characterized by her bold visual style, unique comedic sensibility and universally relatable characters. Prior to her recent long-form successes, Forbes began her career in commercials helming campaigns for brands as diverse as ASDA, Carphone Warehouse, Comic Relief and Oreo, always infusing her trademark style. Previous to coming aboard the SMUGGLER roster, she was with Hungry Man most recently as a solo director, and earlier as part of a directorial duo with Andrew Chaplin.
SMUGGLER co-founder Brian Carmody said of Forbes, “She’s clever, witty and charming both in person and in her work. Her experience is vast, ranging from television to commercials, celebrity and performance. We feel lucky to have the leading voice of the new generation of comedy directors joining the family.”
Forbes added, “After a very busy 2019 making back to back TV, I’m thrilled to be joining the wonderful SMUGGLER roster for commercial representation. There is an amazing team behind me there and I’m excited for this new chapter in my commercial career.”
