Food director/DP John Romeo has joined ShootersINC’s roster which also includes helmers Robert Adamo, Kris Magyarits, Rob Markopoulos, Ira Rosensweig, and Scott Whitham. Executive producer Jim Huie–who collaborates with fellow EPs Chris Andrei and Carolyn Jefferson at the company’s production division–said that Romeo has “quietly developed what I find to be a groundbreaking body of work that is the derivative of several national stills projects, which also yielded motion picture components. There’s a very specific style that is immediately evident to the viewer. It’s not pristine or overly produced. John’s filmmaking style makes food more natural, approachable and intimate.”
Romeo works exclusively with Nir Adar, food stylist, chef and artist. “I’ve been working with John now for a decade,” said Adar. “It’s been very exciting to work together with him through his transition to motion. Over the years, we have developed a close relation on- and off-set, which helps us collaborate on-set at times using no words. John is tremendously embracing of my culinary craft and allows me to do my thing in a supportive way. He empowers me to put all of my love into the food, while he captures the magic moments through his camera.”
ShootersINC is the first company to handle Romeo nationally for commercials and his work in motion. “I made the foray into motion a few years ago,” said Romeo, “and this is just a next step in the development of my career, to sign with a production company that can share my work with new clients.”
