Here’s a look at the Agenda…
3-3:25PM Check in: be sure to arrive early, we will start on time & you won’t want to miss the first session!
3:30PM Welcome
3:35-4:25PM In the Directors Chair: On-Stage interview with Matthew Heineman
Matthew Heineman, a two-time DGA Award winner as a documentarian for “Cartel Land” (also nominated for a Best Documentary Oscar) and “City of Ghosts,” made his narrative feature debut with last year’s “A Private War.” “A Private War” stars Rosamund Pike as Marie Colvin, one of the most celebrated war correspondents of our time, an utterly fearless and rebellious spirit, driven to the frontline of conflicts across the globe to give voice to the voiceless. Back in January, “A Private War” earned Heineman a DGA Award nod for Outstanding Directorial Achievement of a First-Time Feature Film Director. Heineman thus joined Martin Scorsese as the only directors ever to be nominated for both narrative and documentary DGA Awards. "Cartel Land," which explores vigilantes taking on the Mexican drug cartels, also earned three Primetime Emmy Awards. And "City of Ghosts" follows a group of citizen-journalists exposing the horrors of ISIS. Heineman will discuss his filmmaking career, and his Showtime docuseries “The Trade" which chronicles the opioid crisis through the eyes of those most affected–growers, cartel members, users and law enforcement. It was honored by the International Documentary Association as the Best Episodic Series of 2018. Heineman is also handled for commercialmaking via production house Superprime.
