Director Ed McCulloch has signed with SEED Media Arts for commercial representation in the U.S. Based in Utah, McCulloch weaves his role as a husband, father, and nature enthusiast into his directorial work, showcasing a wide range of capabilities in his portfolio as reflected in varied examples including the coming-of-age story of a young cowboy, a JEEP ripping through the backcountry of Utah, or the moment when someone brings a significant other to meet family for the first time.
Having been impacted by a challenging upbringing and a need to leave home at the age of 16, McCulloch has a focus on family values and the work ethic to match. By way of taking any job he could get as a teenager, McCulloch eventually found his way to an executive creative director position for NordicTrack, ProForm and Gold’s Gym. This experience catapulted him into the path of filmmaking and the realization of a passion for directing spots that exhibit real emotion.
McCulloch’s body of work spans such brands as Google, Ford, Kia, Wrangler, Ikea, Hyundai and Oakley. Prior to joining SEED, he was repped by Backyard Productions. McCulloch is an alum of SHOOT’s 2015 New Directors Showcase and has received awards recognition from the AICP Show, Ciclope, EPICA and YDA Cannes.
Roy Skillicorn, founder of SEED, said of McCulloch, “His perspective originates from his upward climb, unique history, extensive world travel, and an inspired way of living. The culmination of these things shows up in his portfolio over and over.”
Bradley Johnson, EP and managing director at SEED, said of the director. “He immerses himself into every project by quickly relating to the heartbeat of the creative. He gets to know his cast on a personal level over a lunch before the shoot, drives to a dealership to test the car he has been hired to film, and works very closely with each individual artist on his production team. For him, it’s not the Ed show, but instead a team that he brings together to develop a powerful impact.”
“I’m beyond excited to join Seed Media Arts for its remarkably strong reputation and modern production sense,” said McCulloch. “I love how agile-minded and intuitive their approach is with how they navigate today’s production demands. The way Bradley and Roy go about it all with ease and friendliness made SEED immediately feel like family which is something that’s so important to me.”
