TVU Networks, known for cloud and IP-based live video solutions, has added two broadcast industry sales veterans to its Europe, Middle East and Africa regions. Natasha Dickson leads sales efforts in the southern and eastern part of the African continent, reporting to Sushant Rai, VP, sales–South Asia, Middle East and Africa. And Patrick Morel heads sales initiatives for France and the Benelux region, reporting to Rafael Castillo, VP and general manager for Europe and Latin America. Dickson has more than 16 years experience in the broadcast and telecommunications industries. Before joining TVU, she was sales director for SmarDTV, a manufacturer of conditional access modules for pay television. Prior to SmarDTV, Dickson was sales and accounts director at SeaChange International, a provider of video delivery software for cloud and on-premise video delivery platforms. She started her broadcast career in monitoring and compliance for South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and leading record labels in South Africa She later joined the SABC as part of the DTT project task team for digital migration underway in South Africa. Dickson resides in Johannesburg. Morel has more than 35 years of experience in the broadcast and media industries. He joins TVU after three years as business development director at Rohde & Schwarz. Morel has held a number of senior sales and management positions, including three years in a senior channel role at Quantum where he primarily focused on media and entertainment storage. He started his career behind a camera, editing and directing corporate videos before joining the Sony reseller network to share his passion for his favorite media tools. In the ‘90s and early 2000s, Morel created and grew Chyron and Pro-Bel France for eight years rising to head of Pro-Bel sales in Reading, UK. He also played a key role in the merger with Snell & Wilcox which became Snell Ltd. Morel resides in Paris….
“Dune: Part Two” and “House of the Dragon” Win 2 HPA Awards Apiece
Dune: Part Two and House of the Dragon each scored two HPA Awards during a gala ceremony at the Television Academy’s Wolf Theatre in North Hollywood, Calif. on Thursday night (11/7). The HPA Awards honor trailblazing talent in the postproduction industry, celebrating standout achievements in color grading, sound, editing, restoration, and visual effects across theatrical features, commercials, and episodics.
Dune: Part Two topped the Outstanding Color Grading--Live Action Theatrical Feature and the Outstanding Sound--Theatrical Feature categories.
House of the Dragon’s two wins were for “The Red Dragon and the Gold” episode which scored for Outstanding Visual Effects--Live Action Episode or Series Season, and Outstanding Editing--Episode or Non-Theatrical Feature (Over 30 Minutes). In the latter HPA Creative Category, House of the Dragon tied with the “Part Six: Far,l Far Away” episode of Ahsoka.
The HPA’s Judges Award for Creativity and Innovation honored Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour. This recognition celebrates the profound impact on both live and filmed entertainment that defined The Eras Tour, underscoring its exceptional impact on audiences and the industry. The jury issued a statement outlining their choice: “Celebrated as the cultural phenomenon of 2023, Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour set new records in box office sales, tour revenues, and attendance.
