Due to an editing error in the story Out of Sight (Computer Graphics Special Report 3/5, p. 21), SHOOT erroneously reported that special effects company Sight Effects was responsible for creating the talking Chihuahua effect in the spot Viva Gorditas. Although Sight Effects made the Chihuahua speak in other Taco Bell spots (in 9 completed spots and approximately 11 that are in the works, according to Melissa Davies, partner at Sight Effects), it did not work on the talking dog effect in Viva Gorditas. Sight Effects worked on the compositing of background elements (banners, people, etc) and created the CGI environment (buildings, etc) for that spot.
As accurately reported in a SHOOT Top Spot (4/17/98, p. 20), Post Logic Studios of Hollywood created the talking Chihuahua effects in Viva Gorditas, as well as in the first 20 Taco Bell Chihuahua spots, beginning with the original Chihuahua, directed by Kinka Usher of House of Usher Films, Santa Monica. Leslie Sorrentino was the executive producer at Post Logic on Viva Gorditas and Michael Killen served as the digital animation artist.
In Green Acres (Editors/ Winter Edition, 3/12, p. 33), the location of advertiser AmSouth bank was incorrectly referenced. It is based in Birmingham, Ala.
In Fresh Meat (Directors Issue, 3/26, p. 14), SHOOT incorrectly reported that director Brendan Donovan was formerly a creative director at Cliff Freeman And Partners, New York. He was an art director/designer.
