Dot-com fare dominated the television portion of the 14th annual San Francisco Show, the awards competition sponsored by the San Francisco Ad Club. Named best of show was DoughNETs Dinner, a spot directed by Tom Kuntz and Mike Maguire of bicoastal/international Propaganda Films for Publicis & Hal Riney, San Francisco.
Dinner teamed with two other spots in the campaign-Movie and Shopping-to take a Gold award in the TV, local :30 category. Movie and Shopping individually copped Golds to rank among the best local :30s. The entire campaign was helmed by Kuntz and Maguire. The agency ensemble included creative director/art director Steve Luker, creative director/writer Kevin Jones and producer Kelly Green.
Amazon.com also scored impressively at the San Francisco Show, with three spots from FCB, San Francisco, collectively earning Gold distinction in the music with lyrics category: Spent Two Minutes, A Few Days To Go and Tons of Toys. Music was composed by Scott Wojahn and Roger Wojahn of Wojahn Brothers Music, Santa Monica.
This trio of spots, as well as Amazon.coms Gotta Lot, were directed by Joe Public, a.k.a. Adam Cameron and Simon Cole of bicoastal Headquarters. Each ad also won a Gold in the TV-online retail sites category. The FCB creative team included creative director/writer Tom OKeefe and creative director/art director Matt Reinhard. Agency producer was Steve Neely.
Garnering Gold in the regional/national TV, institutional or retail services :30 category was a package of CNET.com spots-consisting of Redirect, Plant and Dance, conceived by Leagas Delaney, San Francisco, and directed by Traktor of bicoastal/ international Partizan. The Leagas Delaney contingent included creative directors Harry Cocciolo and Sean Ehringer, art director Roger Camp, copywriter Matt Elhardt and producer Lisa Gatto.
Continuing the dot-com parade was TBWA/Chiat/Day, San Francisco, with Pets.com spots Holiday Alt 1, Holiday Iguana, Holiday Video Trade, City Streets, Cat, Doorman, Delivery, Dog Park and Parking Lot. The first three commercials, the middle three and the last three each took a Gold in the regional/ national online retail sites :30 TV category. All the Pets.com spots were directed by Michael Patrick Jann of bicoastal HKM Productions. The agency contingent was comprised of creative directors Lee Clow, Peter Angelos and Rob Smiley, art director Lew Willig, copywriter Scott Duchon and producer Candace Bowes.
TBWA/Chiat/Day scored again with Onhealth.coms Friends, Feng Shui and Ladies Man, which collectively won Gold in the regional/ national health beauty :10/:15 TV category. Clow, Angelos and Smiley were the creative directors. Art director was Tia Lustig. Michael Smith was the copywriter. And Peter Feldman produced for the agency. The spots were directed by Bryan Buckley of bicoastal/ international hungry man.
The sole Gold TV winner not in the dot.com province was the San Francisco Chronicle for Toilet, directed by Elma Garcia of Elma Garcia Films, Woodacre, Calif. Conceived by agency Grant, Scott & Hurley, San Francisco, the ad topped the local TV :10/:15 category. The agency creative team included creative director/art director Grant Richards, creative director/copywriter Scott Aal, art director Catherine Riebling, writer Susan La Scala and producer Heidi Killeen.
The San Francisco Show awards ceremony was held last month (4/27) at the Nob Hill Masonic Auditorium. The event attracted a turnout of 1,200.
