Editor Walter Mauriot has joined creative post house PS260. He reports to managing partner Zarina Mak, and will be working across the company’s diversified client base for all bookings in the US at its New York City and Venice, Calif. offices.
Mauriot, who hails from editorial house Dearcut, started his career as an assistant editor at Bandits Production in 1997. Afterwards, he became a freelance editor working on various music videos for multiple artists, including Cassius, Mirwais, Madonna, Keziah Jones, Christophe Navarre, Alex et Martin and H5, and has worked with director Jean Baptiste Mondino, among others. Mauriot then brought his unique editorial style to companies like Wanda Productions, 75, Stink, Partizan and Iconoclast. His commercial work includes campaigns for Dior, Volkswagen, Yves Saint Laurent and Adidas, where he edited spots including, “Unite All,” directed by SoMe, and “All In,” directed by Romain Gavras.
Mauriot worked on a range of projects with ​Gavras, which includes A Cross The Universe, a documentary about the French electronic music duo Justice; MIA’s videos for “Bad Girls” and “Born Free,” which earned Mauriot the Antville Award for Best Editing in 2010; Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “No Church In The Wild”; and “Gosh” by Jamie XX. Mauriot was also one of three editors who worked on Logorama, a 2010 Oscar winner for Best Animation Short Film. He also worked as a second editor on a full-length feature called Unleashed which was written by Luc Besson; Transporter 2; Taken 3; and Babylon A.D. featuring Vin Diesel. In 2017, Mauriot edited 9 Doigts (or 9 Fingers), which was directed by FJ Ossang, and was awarded at Locarno Festival for best directing.
