PROMAX & BDA, the world’s largest association for promotion/marketing professionals and broadcast designers in the electronic media, has a broad-based agenda on tap for its annual conference slated for June 20-22 at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square. In addition to its PROMAX and BDA Award proceedings, the three-day confab will be highlighted by assorted sessions addressing various aspects of the industry ranging from creative to business to the impact of new platforms and technologies.
For example, there will be a panel discussion on Creative Branding in a Multi-platform World, moderated by Lee Hunt, president of Lee Hunt USA. With programming being delivered via video on demand, podcasts, mobisodes and on the Web, consumers are getting it from all directions. How does branding, promotion and advertising fit into this evolving content equation? Panelists on hand to provide their perspectives include Stephanie Gibbons, executive VP, marketing & promotions, FX Networks; Beth Higbee, senior VP, Scripps Network Interactive; and Eleo Hensleigh, chief marketing officer, exec VP, marketing & brand strategy, Disney/ABC Networks.
Also scheduled is a session addressing Best Practices for Moving Your TV Brand to Cell Phones and the Web, presented by Graeme Newell and Stephen Warley, president and executive director/digital media, respectively, of 602 Communications.
The agenda also includes a Motion Graphics Boot Camp as well as a Hi-Def Jam. The latter is an update on the latest HD technology advances presented by Greg Moyer, general manager VOOM HD Networks. The motion graphics session, designed to help participants harness the graphic design potential of the latest tools, includes such participants as Chris and Trish Meyer, co-founders of CyberMotion, as well as Pixel Corps founder Alex Lindsay and Milkshake Design founder Lloyd Alvarez.
Another prime session is Beyond the:30 Spot: Out-of-Home TV Networks Today, moderated by Anne White, VP, programming and creative, Premier Retail Networks (PRN). Panelists are Barbara Blangiardi, VP marketing and special projects, The NBC Agency; Kent Hodder, cofounder Met/Hodder; Pat Hellberg, director of Nike Design Brand Media; Michael Quinn, senior VP marketing, research and product development, PRN; and John Bigay, VP, marketing and programming, Captivate Network.
And MSNBC Hardball With Chris Matthews host Chris Matthews will moderate a discussion with top TV marketing and promo executives, including Mike Benson, senior VP, marketing, advertising and promotion at ABC Entertainment, Vince Manze, president/creative director, The NBC Agency; and Ken Dice, executive VP, marketing, Discovery Networks.
AWARDS, SHOWCASES Figuring prominently in the proceedings will be four separate award shows: the 2006 BDA North America Design Awards, the ’06 BDA World Gold Design Awards, the ’06 PROMAX North America Awards, and the ’06 PROMAX World Gold Awards.
Winning entries from all the competitions will be added to the U.S. Library of Congress’ media collection and will become part of a permanent record of living history, available to scholars, media professionals and the public as a resource for generations to come.
Winners will also be presented special, redesigned Muse and Isis Award statuettes this year.
