R!OT, Santa Monica, has created high-definition video masters of HBO’s popular series The Sopranos. HBO is using the newly created HD masters of seasons one and two (which were both originally mastered in standard definition video) in preparing for the release in Europe on PAL-standard DVD. R!OT colorist Linda Olague transferred the original 35mm film negative to HDCAM on a Philips Spirit datacine. Editor Brian Reid then conformed the show on a Discreet HD Fire and outputted the finished masters to D5 at 1080/24p high-definition video. Henry artist/editor Garth O’Donnell and editor Tom Sing, handled the post duties.
