SHORT CUTS
The Finish Line, Santa Monica, completed visual effects and final conform on five :30s for Nike Shox and Wieden+Kennedy, Portland, Ore. Four of the spots-"No Disrespect," "Stampede," "Treadmill" and "The Chair"-present a variety of sports activities occurring against vividly colored grid-like sets. The other spot, "Say Boing," shows couples speaking the word "boing" (a la Sesame Street), against a bright red background. The Finish Line team included visual effects artists James Bygrave, Paul Song, Jon Mueller and Pete Mayor. The commercials were directed by Mike Mills of The Directors Bureau, Hollywood.
Colorist Arnold Ramm of Pacific Data Post (PDP), Santa Monica, created a classic film-era look for Don Henley’s new music video "Everything Is Different Now." The video was shot in 35mm black-and-white-and-color negative, and was transferred on PDP’s Philips Spirit Datacine. Pedro Romhanyi of Oil Factory Films, Hollywood, directed the video.
Kevin Anderson of Green, the FilmCore division for up-and-coming commercial editors, has cut the recent Stratosphere Entertainment feature Smiling Fish and Goat on Fire. The film, directed by Kevin Jordan, stars real-life brothers Derick and Steven Martini as they journey from problematic romantic relationships toward a new understanding of love, life and family. Jordan and the Martini brothers came to FilmCore/Green for a "clean-up" of the film in order to secure a distribution deal. Anderson initially agreed to volunteer a few days on the project, but wound up working on the film for a year. FilmCore and Green are located in Santa Monica. FilmCore has an additional office in San Francisco.
