John Young of Isis Post, New York, edited a campaign featuring New Jersey Devils players spending a day with the Stanley Cup to promote the 2001 NHL playoffs on ABC, ESPN and ESPN2. In "Baby," Sergei Brylin gives his child a bath in the Stanley Cup; Ken Daneyko has lunch with former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman in "Governor"; and Sergei Nemchinov takes the Cup to a Russian nightclub in "Comedy Club." The :30s were directed by Errol Morris of bicoastal/international @radical.media, and created by Wieden+Kennedy, New York. EYE Animation Studios, London, produced and animated two :15s for Nabisco’s Chip Ahoy! and FCB New York. "Candy Blast" features a roller coaster ride around Candy Blast Mountain, with explosions of jewel-like pieces of chocolate candy embedding themselves into the cookies. "Peanut Butter" shows a nightclub-style show, with trumpeting elephants, chocolate musical notes and swirls of peanut butter. For EYE, Ian Bird and Jo Simpson directed the animation, Paul Kemp handled the live action direction, and Stephanie Cleak produced.
Chinagraph, New York, cut Capital One’s "Knights" and "Gladiator," for D’Arcy, New York. In "Knights," edited by Eric Carlson, armored men chase a couple driving in a car until the wife displays her Capital One credit card. "Gladiator," cut by John Mallerman, shows a woman knocking out a Roman senator with her purse, which contains a Capital One card. Roenberg (Espen Sandberg and Joachim Roenning) directed the ads out of bicoastal Public Works. Chinagraph credits also include assistant editors Rennie Elliot and Anais Rivera, and executive producer Rosemary Quigley.
MUSIC NOTES
Hollywood-based Musikvergnuegen produced "musical architecture" for a series of new IBM e-business centers. The first installation, featuring both music and sound design elements, was showcased recently at the Center for IBM e-business Innovation in Chicago. Musikvergnuegen composer Walter Werzowa served as creative director on the project. Additional Musikvergnuegen credits include composers John Luker and Justin Burnett, sound designer Larry Jones, engineers Damien Chock and Jason Ford, with Benjamin Wynn providing technical support.
Sound of Science (SOS) has expanded into a new space on its one-year anniversary. The New York-based music and sound design studio is sharing space with postproduction services company Orbit Digital, which features Avid systems rentals, system and facility integration, technical support, and editing suites. SOS’s recent credits include music/sound design for Kodak’s "Independence Day," via Ogilvy & Mather, New York; Healthy Choice’s "Hello America," for Grey Worldwide, New York; Dawn’s "Greasy Bottles," out of D’Arcy, New York; and Reebok’s "Pump," via Berlin Cameron & Partners, New York. Additionally, SOS has scored MTV’s Scoop series, and PBS/Third Wave TV’s Smart About Money.
Mark Kilian of Venice, Calif.-headquartered Machine Head composed music for a Columbia TriStar logo ID to accompany its home video and DVD releases. Stephen Dewey and Gabrielle Hughes were creative director and producer, respectively, on the project.
