Pogo Pictures has taken on director Sean Mullens for representation on the East Coast and in Texas. He is handled on the West Coast by Republic Content. Earlier he was repped by bicoastal Boxer Films.
At Pogo, Mullens joins a directorial roster which includes company owner Steve Colby and Ryan Smith.
Mullens studied advertising and design at the Art Center College of Design. He served as VP/creative director at FCB San Francisco where he created award-winning advertising for Levi’s and MTV. Mullens rocked his way into filmmaking by writing and directing music videos for R.E.M., Third Eye Blind, Courtney Love and other music artists. Mullens’ TV and print work for Levi’s from his agency days resides in both the Museum of Modern Art and the Smithsonian. His documentary films and commercials for VW, ESPN and Vitamin Water have received international acclaim including an Emmy nomination, Cannes Film Festival Gold Lions, Golden Clios and Grand Jury Awards from the Austin and London International Film Festivals.
Currently focused on his first commercial project for Pogo Pictures, collaborating with JWT, Mullens is also shooting a documentary entitled Pull about his small community just north of San Francisco, and its history around an annual tug of war competition, between Stimson Beach and neighboring town Bolinas. Plans call for the documentary, which is being shot this year, to hit the film festival circuit. Mullens is also in development on two television episodic projects; one dramatic, the other comedy.
Pogo Pictures has recently completed an extensive commercial campaign for Humana via the Rapp agency. Pogo is also in the midst of a major expansion, with additional director signings due this year, as well as the formation of a new division.
