Peter Gannon, most recently at McCann NY and sister agency Commonwealth where he spent several years as sr. VP, executive music producer, and Jessica Dierauer, who had been freelancing as a music supervisor and producer after having served as executive producer of music and creative content at Y&R NY, have teamed to launch Able Baker, a company offering original composition, music supervision and licensing as well as music strategy/consultation and content production for the advertising and entertainment industries. The NY-based shop has billed itself as a connector between brands and musicians, partnering with them to create music for content and content for music, protecting creative ideas and strategically aligning all parties involved in music production.
The Able Baker moniker is taken from the first two letters of the original phonetic alphabet. In addition to Y&R, McCann and Commonwealth, Gannon and Dierauer’s combined experience has also taken them to Wieden+Kennedy, Ogilvy, The Martin Agency, BBH and CP+B. Some of their career highlights include Gannon as the creator of The Quietest Show on Earth for Nature Valley, an innovative music platform presented by Nature Valley on behalf or the National Parks Conservatory Association. Dierauer partnered with Hudson Rouge and Lincoln Motor Company on the interactive music video for Aloe Blacc’s, “Love is the Answer”. Along with leading their departments, their client roster has included Coca Cola, ESPN, Old Spice, American Express, Land Rover, Nike, Dell, Chevrolet, Chrysler and Target.
“Being in the agency world for many years, we’ve seen the potential in the market for a new kind of music company, one that’s a hub for both brands and musicians,” said Dierauer.
Able Baker will be sharing space with boutique audio post house Heard City, which could potentially lead to select collaborations between those two companies.

Music, audio post and sonic branding house Barking Owl has taken on exclusive representation of Oscar and Emmy-winning composer Kris Bowers for advertising and branded content.
Bowers’ recent film scores include The Wild Robot and Bob Marley: One Love, alongside acclaimed past works such as The Color Purple (2023), King Richard and Green Book. In addition to his work as a composer, Bowers is a visionary director. He recently took home the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Subject for his directorial work on The Last Repair Shop. The emotionally touching short film spotlights four of the people responsible for repairing the musical instruments used by students in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The Last Repair Shop reflects the positive influence that musical instruments have on the youngsters who play them, and the adults in the LAUSD free repair service who keep them working and in tune.
Barking Owl CEO Kirkland Alexander Lynch said of Bowers, “His artistry, diversity of style and depth of storytelling bring an unparalleled edge to the work we create for global brands. His presence on our roster reflects our continued commitment to pushing the boundaries of sound and music in advertising.”
Johanna Cranitch, creative director, Barking Owl, added, “Kris first caught my attention when he released his record ‘Heroes + Misfits’ where he fused together his jazz sensibility with a deeply ingrained aptitude for melody, so beautifully.... Read More
