Executive producer Pedro Aragão de Oliveira, who most recently served as a partner at JOJX, has launched Culver City, Calif.-based production company GREATERGOOD. The new venture opens with a directorial roster consisting of Axl (Axl Laubscher), Camila Cornelsen, Cassiano Prado, Clay Born, David Charles Rodrigues, Felipe Gomez Aparicio, Gerard Montero, Ivan Jurado, La Niña, Miranda May, and Sega.
“At GREATERGOOD, we are driven by a passion for innovative storytelling that captivates audiences,” said founder de Oliveira. “With our team of directors, we’re ready to push boundaries and explore fresh creative directions.”
All the filmmakers are repped exclusively in the U.S. by GREATERGOOD. Several have had prior representation, including Axl who had been at Bob Industries, Cornelsen with Stept Studios, Prado with Stink, Jurado with Stadium, and Sega with The Sweet Shop. Rodrigues owns Twenty Three Films while Aparicio had earlier been with Superseed and continues to be repped by D’avant Garde in the Hispanic market.
A number of the directors also have longer form chops. Rodrigues’ Gay Chorus Deep South won the Audience Award for best documentary feature at the 2019 Tribeca Film festival. Multiple Cannes Lion winner Aparicio made his feature debut with The Perfect David. And Prado’s credits include Coma, a web series for Getty Images, and an episode of Invisible City for Netflix.
Industry vet de Oliveira–who began his career as a teenager in Rio de Janeiro and has spent nearly his entire professional life in Los Angeles–came up the industry ranks, including serving as a production manager and producer, freelancing in the latter capacity at such production companies as SMUGGLER, Superprime, PRETTYBIRD, Park Pictures, Supply & Demand, Tool of North America and ad agency Deutsch. Earlier as a freelance production manager, he worked at assorted production houses (including now since-closed shops such as Coppos Films, HSI, Chased by Cowboys and Ritts Hayden) as well as agency TBWAChiatDay where he started out. After his lengthy tenure as a freelancer, de Oliveira came on staff at production company JOJX as a partner/sr. executive producer.
Now he opens GREATERGOOD to provide the tools and resources for creatives to fully realize their visions while fostering an environment of collaboration and inclusion. The new company has also lined up sales representation, handled on the East Coast by Golden Owl, led by Katie Goldstein and Katrin Aul, and on the West Coast by Dimitri + Co, headed by Michael Dimitri.
“We’re committed to producing work that not only stands out but also resonates deeply,” said de Oliveira. “For us, it’s about more than the final product–it’s about the relationships we build, the processes we refine, and the impact we create.”
